Snapshots from our camping trip in Voyageur's National Park

Burnt Island - 88

I am just settling back at home after a weeklong camping trip with the kids in Voyager's National Park.  In the middle of the winter, I made a reservation for 7 nights on Burnt Island on Sandpoint Lake hoping to time the experience with good weather and ripe blueberries.  We lucked out with both and our experience camping on an island for a week was amazing.  Enjoy these snapshots from our trip and be delighted by the beauty and bounty of this beautiful area of Northern Minnesota:

We are just back from one last island camping trip in Voyager's National Park.  This time we stayed two nights and brought along the paddle board. We also did some fishing in the boat (this mama figured out how to use the trolling motor) and some cliff jumping at a safe spot right on the island.  We are now unpacking, hanging wet tents, washing loads of laundry - but it is all worth it.  There is nothing quite like what we are able to experience up on Sandpoint Lake.  I am happy that I have developed the confidence and skills to explore this area with my children independently during my summers off with my children.

::Snapshots from Voyageur's National Park

Our family just returned from a great - three night - camping trip in Voyageur's National Park.  This is a special place for my husband and I, because it is where we met, working at a resort on Crane Lake.

We now have the opportunity, the knowledge of the lakes and the gear to share experiences camping and adventuring in this beautiful place with our children.

Here are some snapshots of our recent adventures:

One of our day trip adventures was to Mica Island where we explored the remnants of an old mica mine and took some time to pick blueberries to add to our oatmeal for our Sunday morning breakfast.

We also took a trip to Kettle Falls Dam- and visited the Kettle Falls Hotel.

The rest of our trip we spent swimming, fishing, relaxing and spending time together as a family.  We hope take more adventures like this!
