A couple of weeks of go we took a walking field trip to an apple tree a couple blocks away from the school. Each kindergarten student got to pick a couple of apples from the tree and we hauled them back in a wagon to our classroom. The following day we made applesauce right in our classroom!
I am not sharing this because it is new concept or even a unique, creative recipe. I am sharing this today just as a reminder how easy this is!
Every child should share in the experience making applesauce in the fall!
It is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
-----------------------------
Applesauce in a Crock Pot
1) Harvest (purchase), wash, and peel and core apples.
2) Put apples in a crock pot and add some cinnamon and sugar. (I added about 3 T. of cinnamon and 1 cup sugar). Cook on low for 4-6 hours. Your house (or classroom) will soon smell like a warm apple pie.
3) Use a potato masher to press apples to desired texture.
Serve and enjoy!
